Meet the Hoffmeister family:

Hi, I’m Marc - 38 years old from Dallas, TX. Up until now, I’ve spent nearly all my adult life working as an editor of TV commercials and taking vacations with my family whenever I can. But now, I’m doing the opposite - I’ve taken a year off to travel with my family.

I’m Danielle - 36 years old & also from Dallas. I’m a stay-at-home mom & part-time cruise agent. My husband of 15 years is having some kind of mid-life crisis, and I’m going along for the ride!

My name is Hannah - I’m 10 years old and I love to draw, write stories & listen to music. I think I’m going to miss my home & friends, but I’m not going to miss going to school!

and I’m Olivia - 7 years old. I love reading, pretending & listening to my iPod. I just wanna have fun!!

About this website:

We built this website as a way for our family & friends to keep up with our adventures, plus we wanted to have a journal of the trip for ourselves. If we can help other families who want to take a similar journey, that’s a plus! Want to follow along? You can bookmark this site - or better yet, subscribe to our RSS feed or sign up for email updates, using the boxes at the right. (once we put them there, that is.)

We’re pretty new to blogging and social networking, so we’ve borrowed ideas from other travel blogs, especially The Wide Wide World. (They have a really cool site - you should check them out!) We’ve also included links on the left to other travel blogs and websites we think you might enjoy.

The Blog contains all of our journal entries, with the most recent ones displayed first. You can use the navigation links at the right to jump to a certain point or view them by category.

You can find all the details about our itinerary on the Our Trip page. We’ll even put some cool Google Earth maps and files so you can follow along with us. (just as soon as we learn how to do that.)
