I can’t believe it’s been a month since we returned to America, and how much faster time seems to move here!
After similar journeys, other world travelers have told us how quickly it began to seem as though they never left. I see what they mean – as you slip into all the familiar routines, it’s amazing how quickly the amazing world tour can seem like it happened in another lifetime. Then again, while we were abroad I felt the same way about the life we left behind. Maybe it’s just a side effect of living in the moment.
“So, what’s it like being back?”
We’ve been getting this question a lot, and it’s surprisingly difficult to answer. I guess part of the reason is that in many ways we’re not really “back”. I’ve always known that we wouldn’t return to the exact same lives we had before. That’s why we sold everything – so we could start with a clean slate and use what we’ve learned in our travels to set up our lives however we want.
Some things falling into place faster than others. We’re having a great time catching up with the family, friends, and FOOD that we’ve missed. But our progress has occasionally been slowed by the remoteness of our temporary home out in the country with Danielle’s parents (and its lack of high-speed internet).
Things are going well, though, and we’re very excited about this next chapter in our lives. Over the next few weeks, we’ll have plenty more to tell about the highlights of our trip, the things we’ve learned, and our continuing adventures back home. Come along for the ride!

What foods did you find you missed the most?
Tex-Mex, cheeseburgers, and pretty much everything Danielle cooks!
I enjoyed meeting “the girls” last Sunday.
