I miss my coffee maker. I really, really love my Keurig coffee maker. Coffee on the ship ranges from mediocre to tastes like a dirty ashtray (not that I‘ve tasted a lot of ashtrays, but you get my drift.)
I miss the internets. At 37 to 55 cents a minute and the speed of dial up, I check email and that’s about it. I know we keep bitching about this but you get used to just looking something up quick, reading favorite blogs, sending emails, and just feeling connected.
I miss TV. I don’t watch a ton of TV. I never turned it on during the day at home but at night we had a few favorite shows. The new seasons are starting up and I guess we will be playing catch up in December. There is a TV in our stateroom, but the channel selection is limited to mostly international news & sports (gee, my favorite) We also get movies on our stateroom TV – unfortunately the same movies every week. Even Harry Potter 5 loses its charm after 57 viewings.
I miss my closet. It’s not that big a deal but I do miss the larger variety from my closet aaaaannnd the ability to get something new whenever, which probably falls under the next category.
I miss shopping. You can go shopping on the ship and in every port but jewelry and GrandStPertoOchoCaymanThomas t-shirts and fake sexy body swimsuit cover-ups aren’t what I want.
Absence just make the heart grow fonder, right? But really, I don’t miss any of this enough to change where I am.

Will you return to all of that when you come home (maybe I should just say back)?

Well it goes to show how much our life style is ingrained in us. Kudos for you guys trying a new take on all that and finding new stuff to be part of your everyday. I’d miss all that and more. I wonder if it will feel different after you have been out for 6 months or more? .. .
OK, so what about Cantina Laredo?. . .
mando – we don’t miss Cantina Laredo (yet). But I would kill for some good sushi!
Boy! I just found your site and I’m hooked. I can really identify. First of all , I lived in Dallas for 15 years before making the jump with my family of four to Mexico. We’ve been here about 6 months now and I cant say I miss much about Dallas right now. Yep, Cantina Laredo was good but nothing beats the sense of discovering you get each day while your in a new country.
Saludos and Congrats for such a great blog.
