Holiday Halftime

by Marc on December 24, 2008

As our last week aboard Carnival Valor was winding down, you should’ve seen how Hannah & Ray’s eyes lit up at the thought of coming back “home”. Even though we’ve all enjoyed the last 3 months, it’s really nice to be around friends & family during the holidays.

We’re back in Texas now, our tans rapidly fading as we finish our holiday shopping and prepare for the next leg of our journey. The last 3 months have been a really fun, relaxing trial run for what will be a much more challenging stretch ahead. We’ve learned that we can all live together in as little as 150 square feet for long periods of time without going crazy (that often), and that we really can get by without all those things that used to consume so much of our time. Pretty cool.

Now that I have more frequent access to high-speed internet (the one thing I’ve really missed during our journey so far), I’ll also be making some improvements to the website. You may notice I’ve already removed the login requirements for commenting, so hopefully we’ll be hearing from more of you on the next leg.

Soon I’ll be adding more pictures to our Flickr page, and hopefully some videos, too – just as soon as I finish overhauling my trusty laptop. We also have a few more posts coming about our cruises, including our 2 favorite beaches – so stay tuned.

In the meantime, we hope you all have a wonderful holiday season – especially our fellow travelers who are spending it on the road in exotic places. We wish we could visit all of our friends in the Dallas area, but time will be short – we leave for Peru in just 2 weeks!

Happy Holidays from our family to yours — and we do look forward to crossing paths in Japan (or somewhere!)

We’re winding down our time in Australia and getting ready for the adventure of Asia.

See you out there!

Wish we could have linked up over the Holidays. I’ll follow your journey from the peanut gallery. Safe travels.

Hi there,
Just found your site and had a great belly laugh reading your FAQ!!! It is almost identical to ours… great/CRAZY minds think alike. (www.teamspiers.wordpress.com)

We are another RTW family, and we left around the same point in time. I have to admit we are envious of the cruising bit of your plan, and the fact that you got to return home over the holidays.

I just wanted to connect with you so we could share stories.
Anyway, safe travels to you and yours. If you see any possibility of crossing paths on our travels we would love to meet up!

Kim Spiers
