Now that we are done with our cruising the training wheels are off as we hit the road again. Taking a cruise is such an easy way to travel. We picked cruising as a way to ease the kids (and ourselves) into being gone for longer periods of time while still doing something familiar. The trade off is you only get a small sample of the places you visit. If it weren’t for the fact the food stays the same every sailing and it’s too expensive for the long term I could totally live on a cruise ship.
Being back in Dallas for the holidays had its good and bad. The kids had so much fun with the grandparents and cousins I think now they would have just preferred staying behind. We had many conversations about how that was not an option, period. And many conversations about how they got to spend all that time with family because of this trip. And conversations about how we could not live with my parents forever. And a few tears. It can be hard to convince your child that something new and different is going to be awesome.
Because now comes the real adventure!
